Thanks for a very clear and well explained approach to report writing. It’s really helpful and very well delivered.

I have observed that the LA and ICB often create bureaucratic obstacles, leading to significant financial waste-funds they ironically claim to lack. One might question how they are compensated, as it appears to be through extensive paperwork! From my experience, their primary focus has shifted to bureaucratic processes aimed at avoiding providing necessary care. Unfortunately, there was no effective complaints process or ombudsman oversight at that time, as it operated as a closed system. There is now a slight improvement in transparency, and I hope this trend continues towards better outcomes for everyone.

My son had a DOLs from Oct 2023 until April of this year and it was the worst thing I’ve had to witness. He was restrained multiple times, spat, hit at … mentally abused told daily “your mum don’t want you” It’s really hard to process for us as his parents and him.

So what are my rights in a 117

They're allowing a client in a 117to commit suicide the mental health team just don't care any more and when forcified my discharge came up with x6 different for ufied versions of discharge

Forcufied a discharge upon me and ou evduscharged me of mental heKth the also discharged ne from restpite care too is disgusting when my me tal health have not changed if not worse and have a life long mental illnesses so why discharge someone like me that is vulnerable and high risk crazy

Can they discharge on 117as they did that to me on a fircified discharge since then my mental health has gone down hill and I can not get any mental health support even thou were under the mental health team for 30years they told me I no longer needed a care coordinator and discharge threatened a d💡

Since then I had been in a emergency crises in a suicide mode at the river edge the mental health refused to support me even thou remain in 117 my mental health has detected but remain in 117alk back to front

Question I have been discharged from mental health team in a forcified discharged I was unready fie a discharge and was in a section 117 so can they discharge me on a 117by law or are they breaching the law

We should all be looking after each other, I think this very much relates to growth mindset and how we support each others wins! we need to be able to celebrate when someone did well and not feel threatened by this. We all need encouragement and support.

Entitlement can be used to describe different things: 1. Something someone has access to (like ‘he was entitled to annual leave’) 2. A feeling a person has (like ‘she felt entitled to have her own way’) People who are described as ‘entitled’ are often seen as spoilt or demanding. Insisting they get what they want no matter the cost. Within advocacy, however, we would like to suggest it should be viewed as a positive feeling - one connected to human freedom which advocates can develop. We think that helping a person to develop their own sense of entitlement is a good thing, something that addresses the power imbalance and promotes supported decision making. After watching the video, please do discuss the following areas within your teams to develop your understanding and further your skill: 1. How did you feel about the word ‘entitlement’ before and after watching the video? 2. Do you have a sense of entitlement in your personal life? Why do you think this is? 3. Are people born with a sense of entitlement or do they learn it? 4. Do the people you support have a sense of entitlement? Does this manifest itself in positive or negative ways? 5. Do you explore with people a sense of entitlement? Do people understand their entitlement? 6. Should advocates develop a sense of entitlement with their advocacy partners? Why/why not?

Some really interesting points here, so cheers for the talk through. IMO further changes will come over the following months as practical steps are taken to reintroduce 'normal' service. As an aside, YT have pulled LOADS of videos recently that contain copyrighted music, so be careful if use hasn't been cleared. Some artists are pursuing breach too, even in current climate. Best to use PD stuff. Cheers for the info though.

This woman is ace.Excellent speaker - professional yet very down to earth. I think there is a lot of apathy and lack of drive to stand up for what is right in a lot of public services.
